Charli XCX Embraces a Twisted Persona of Her Own Identity in Mockumentary First Look

The Grammy-winning artist is preparing for a major big screen presence in 2026, kicking off with the fictional documentary titled The Moment.

In the film, she embodies what she calls as a hell version of her public image.

It’s the most authentic portrayal of the music industry that I’ve ever seen, the star remarked.

She elaborated in a conversation: It’s far from a live performance documentary, yet the concept originated from the expectation to make one.

A Glimpse into The Project

The debut trailer, released on recently, mixes actual recordings from her live performances with fictionalized behind-the-scenes moments.

The film is directed and co-written by Aidan Zamiri, who explained that the plot revolves around a world where Charli opted for alternate decisions throughout the publicity of her hugely successful record Brat.

The mockumentary is just one of numerous forthcoming screen roles for the musician, who has appeared in three cinematic festival entries this year.

What’s Next

Next year will also see Charli together with Olivia Wilde in romantic thriller I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in art world thriller The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in terror reimagining Faces of Death.

She recently signed on to appear in the star’s first film as director A Tree in Blue.

February will also include the launch of Emerald Fennell’s version of Wuthering Heights, which will feature fresh tracks from the singer.

Additionally, she will provide music for the film Mother Mary, featuring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, set to be released next year.
