Hodgkinson recorded her fastest time of 1:54.61 last year in the British capital.

The Olympic champion concluded her two-lap season with a triumph at the women-only Athlos event in NYC on Friday night.

{The reigning Olympic champion, who earned bronze at the global championships recently, dominated an impressive win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was just her sixth appearance in a year impacted by a muscle issue.

Compatriot and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell finished second once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua M. (1:58.57) secured third place.

"I haven't competed much this season so it was probably easier for me to compete and be motivated to perform," stated the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere out there is crazy so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive event filled the stadium in its second edition, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is wed to the founder of Athlos Alexis Ohanian, was present to present the victors with their crowns.

Last year's winners took home sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The event also attracted several top athletes, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from the recent Paris Games, won the 100m and 200m double.
