News has broken that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

A Major Reunion for Fans

The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Speculation suggests their appearance will likely occur in a future-set scene, given that the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.

This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind the majority of the previous films in the series.

The Plot and New Cast

The film's events are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several accomplished actors in key parts:

• Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes will appear as a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Regarding the production schedule:
