Trevoh Chalobah Expected to Take Over from Guehi in Three Lions Selection

Chelsea defender in action

Trevoh Chalobah followed his brother Nathaniel in representing England, becoming the 21st pair of siblings to be selected for the England side.

The Chelsea defender is likely to join up with the Three Lions selection to replace injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to meet up with the squad for England's remaining World Cup qualifying matches against Albania and Serbia, but it has yet to be confirmed.

The national side have already qualified for the upcoming tournament.

Chalobah earned his initial invitation under England manager Thomas Tuchel in May and then made his debut against Senegal.

In September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unlucky to be excluded from the selection for qualifiers against Serbia and Andorra, and also did not select him for the subsequent October international break.

Tuchel has been an significant presence in Chalobah's progress, having given him his Chelsea debut in the year 2021.

Chalobah has featured in all but four matches for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the club in third place in the English top flight, in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and in the group stage of the Champions League.

Guehi picked up a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Conference League success over AZ Alkmaar recently.

There are set to be additional inclusions to the team. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has confirmed that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (a concussion) are set to pull out from the England setup.
