Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," shared Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the cases to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the tragedy, public figures offered different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan described the comments as "shocking" and remarked they revealed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an aide should have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
