World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended clash where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million spectators in the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this is the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% increase over the previous finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series drew 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 different languages.
